Note: By participating in Fun on Foot, all Participants would have read, understood, accepted and agreed to comply with the information, race mechanics, rules and regulations stated.

1. Eligibility Criteria

Participants must take part in teams of up to four. Teams can participate in either one of the following three categories:

Competitive Category
  • Educational Institutions – This category is open to only full-time students enrolled in a secondary school, JC, ITE, Polytechnic or tertiary institution in Singapore, be it a local or foreign school. Primary school students are not eligible to participate in this category.
  • Open – This category is open to the general public, e.g. families, friends, corporations, tourists, etc. Please note that all children below the age of 12 years must be partnered by an adult in the team.
Leisure Category

Anyone may participate in this category. As above, all children below the age of 12 years must be partnered by an adult in the team.

2. Transportation

The race must be completed by teams on foot, bus or MRT only. Participants seen taking taxis or personal transport will be disqualified.

Participants are reminded to bring along their EZ-Link card for public transportation. All public transportation costs incurred are to be borne by the Participants. The Organisers will not reimburse transportation costs.

3. Determining the Winners

Please note that the Organisers' decision is final and no correspondence will be entertained.

Competitive category

Points will be allocated to teams for arriving at a site (1 point), completing a task (2 points), and for correct answers to questions posed (1 point).

The points will be recorded in the system based on the SMSes sent by the team.

The team that clocks in the highest score will win the first prize in their category, the team that has the second-highest score will win the second prize, and so forth.

In the event of a tie, i.e. several teams with the same score, the team’s timing will then be the determining factor. The team that wins will thus be the one that achieved their score in the shortest duration of time.

Results will be announced at 3.00pm at Fountain of Wealth, Suntec City.

Leisure category

a. Lucky Draw
Teams participating in the Leisure Category will automatically qualify for a lucky draw if the team leader scans or keys his/her NRIC number at the end point by 2 pm. Each participant in the eligible teams will be entitled to one lucky draw opportunity only. The lucky draw will be conducted on Saturday, 18 July 2009 at the event ground at the finishing point at 3.00pm. Winners who are absent during the lucky draw or winning entries with invalid contact details will be disqualified. Another winner will be picked instead.

b. Additional Prizes
In addition, the top 10 teams with the highest score will also receive a set of National Heritage Board publications. In the event of a tie, the team’s timing will then be the determining factor.

4. Technical Advice

Time

Please note that the race’s official timing will follow the Official Time displayed on the Official Clock at the Registration area. Teams will be required to synchronise their watches to this clock.

SMS

Teams must conduct all official race-related SMSes via the official mobile number they have registered, i.e. SMSes received from other mobile numbers will be disqualified.

Teams are encouraged to keep their sent and received SMSes throughout the race in case of discrepancy.

In the event that the official mobile number fails to work, teams must first call the race technical helpdesk: 62936275. The system will activate the back-up mobile number registered. It will then become the team’s new official number, and teams may use this new official number to complete the race.

Please note that all charges for the calls or SMSes are to be borne by the Participants. The Organisers will not reimburse mobile call/SMS costs.

SMSes received from other mobile numbers will be disregarded.

Barcode Scanning

Team leaders are required to scan their NRICs at the start point between 8.00am - 8.45am and at the end point before 2.00pm to register their arrival. As such, team leaders are reminded to bring along their NRICs for the race.

  • SIM cards with the official and back-up mobile numbers
  • Mobile phones
  • NRIC/student pass (team leader only)

It is also advisable to bring along spare batteries, chargers, and back-up SIM cards.
